English Language Arts, Grade 9, The Odyssey Unit
Hello, and welcome to my page! I'm Keely Liquori, a Junior at UNCW currently enrolled in Dr. Robertson SEC 300. I am studying to be a high school English teacher, so in that case, Welcome to Ms. Liquori's class! I have always valued as well as loved learning and education. One of my passions is the art and craft of the English language, whether it be through novels, plays, poetry, etc. I was born and raised in North Carolina, and am a North Carolina Teaching Fellow, so I plan to stay. Nothing excites me more than the fact that in a couple years I will be running my own English classroom. I can not wait to "wow" my students with how much they can learn about the subject and how fun it can be. They will learn to question not only the texts, but concepts and issues in society, as well as learn how to uses texts as an outlet for their own lives.
This unit is on Homer's "The Odyssey." Students will not only read the epic poem, but dissect it, looking at plot, themes, characters, and conflicts, both on a small and large scale, as well as both in the original context and applied to today's modern society. Students will do a variety of things such as writing, independent and group work, projects, inquiry, work with technology, work with music or art, review, and testing. Come on in, and I hope you enjoy exploring my page!
