Assessments
My post assessment alone has varying levels (blooms taxonomy) of multiple choice, short answer, and essay questions. My lessons are filled with constant, interactive inquiry projects, writing assignments, and assessments. Each lesson has either a quiz, writing assignment, or product produced (each lesson has a quiz and product) that I will use to assess their understanding of concepts. They are identified in the "assessments" beside "objectives" (in each lesson, as well as on the overview page) or they for homework/independent practice, again each lesson has at least 2 examples of these quizzes. Quizzes and tests have answers and rubrics, projects must be presented and turned in and have rubrics for grading, and writing assignments are a way they can express their thoughts and understanding while they show their analytical skills. However, here are some extra projects (and two sample rubrics) that I have created for this lesson.
Project: come up with a wanted poster listing a character, picture, description, and something about them or an action they have done.
Project: create a news report on an event in The Odyssey where you cover the incident including what happened and why. Be sure to include who was involved and what their motivations were. What brought them to be involved in the event.
Project: facebook profile (fakebook.com), apply these characters and their conflicts to modern day problems. Include their favorite song, book or movie, and quote (explain why this fits them). Also create a status talking about one of their conflicts or relationships (you can modernize it) and then create a message rebuttal from another character. For extra credit you may comment on the page responding to the conflicts or your personal experience that fit this type ofconflict.
Project: Soundtrack to The Odyssey
Project: Write a 2 paragraph response analyzing Odysseus’s three major conflicts. Explain what they were, problems they caused, how they were resolved. Then write a one paragraph response on another character’s role in those conflicts.
Project: Create an Odyssey guide booklet, with five rules on what to do or what not to do. Use Odysseus’s and the other characters experiences and lessons to create your booklet. Be sure to explain and give specific reasons on why or why not to do certain things. (You may write this from the p.o.v. of the characters so that it’s in first person and first hand experiences.)
Project: Create your own Modern Odyssey, complete with locations around the world, 3 tasks or challenges, and an end goal. Use character traits, conflicts, and situations from what you have read and discussed. For extra credit project, come up with an unexpected snafu, maps, locals, costs, budget, schedule, etc. (social studies, math)

The quizzes included in the lesson, as well as the pre/post assessments, have their answer key and rubrics with them. As for grading writing assignments. I will check for content, support, quotes, transitions, flow, grammar, sections. The essay on the post assessment was 20 points. I would break that up 3 points poss. for each category, except only 2 points available for grammar.
